RoboPunch Some Orbeez
We are really facinated by Orbeez, or more over the hype around this simple toy. So we put them in a fishbowl and punched it, with RoboPunch.

ROBO PUNCH!
Welding the RoboPunch Base Frame
Here I'm laying out the base frame that'll house RoboPunch. We ended up going with 16 gauge square tubing, strong yet lightweight.
Painting RoboPunch
We went with a base flat black for the frame. We'll put "DangerTape" around the whole thing making it that perfect blend of science and industrial.
RoboPunch Test Fire
Here's out first test. RoboPunch goes for the dummy and we learn just wow powerful this guy really is.

Lights now all set and getting cameras prepped. We'll soon be bringing in the first test: a balloon filled with Ooobeck.
Falling Limbs in End Times
Director Bobby Miller wanted a falling limb effect on a cross. Simple rig using a paper clip and fishing line.

Here you can see the adjusted paper clip and how the line was connected. I needed it to slide out but remain totally hidden. No need for rotoscoping out line.

The Busted Gate Project
Friend of mine, Sevan, bought a house over in Frogtown. His gates casters were completely shot, all of the bearings crushed and seized. We chopped off the caster box and replaced with new track wheels.

Here's the gate after I welded on the new boxes. They're the same size as the previous ones so the swap was pretty easy. Just needed to fill in some gaps left from the cut-out.

Here's the now working gate. The new casters work like a dream, and after a quick chain adjustment rides like new across the rail. Slams shut too, mega solid. All in all? 3 hours = Now working gate.

Under the skin of the wooden TV, you can see how the layout worked. The screen magnifier did quite a good for such a low-budget solution.

Placed out next to the trash fence, it's an art piece you'll have to stumble upon to find.
BRC-TV Burning Man 2016
The newer version of the deep playa TV. This housing is 3/8" steel with a explosives resistant plexi-glass screen. LED TV, 20 watt audio system, running off of a Raspberry Pi (OSMC OS). The TV holds (2) 50Ah batteries to run all of these electionics, plus (3) 2w LED safety lights on the outside.

Halfway through the welding on the deep playa TV. After it was done, the TV weighs in at a massive 170 pounds. All scrap reminent 3/8" plate steel and 10 gauge angle iron.

Behind the skin of the small little wooden BRCTV from 2015. It ran off of an iPad with a book magnifier screen. The base housed a 50Ah battery to run the 20watt audio and keep the iPad charged.

This guy looked awesome and had tons of articulation points. We wanted to add movement, so I added tank treads with 2 small LEGO motors. Then wanted the arms to attack, so I locked the arms and put them on axles. Then added another small motor that I'm turning on here.

First part of any of the Lego shoots is sorting... LOTS and LOTS of sorting. All in all we have around 30 cubic feet of Legos in our bins. It takes about a week to get everything prepped, then we'll be in my favorite: build week where we actually do all of the set mods.

Needed to rebuild a LEGO crane for a BTI episode. Added 4 small LEGO motors, 2 each for the actuators on the arm, 1 for the claw, and 1 for the rotation. Then I added 2 medium LEGO motors for the treads, one for each side. Really fun project.

5 Years and pulled out mounds of dust and debris from the inside... Really crazy cleaning job.

Just gross. Lol! The lower 92mm fan intake was caked up with loads of dust. I took 91% rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush to clean off all of the fans for install into the new case.

The Antec case had a lot of airflow issues, so I opted for the Lian Li PC-D600 dual compartment case. One side is motherboard and components, the other (behind the motherboard here) are the harddrives, optical, and card readers.

Lightweight, tons of airflow, and more room than you know what to do with. The last case, due to the RAID hot-swap slots, couldn't fit a full size video card. Now? Could fit 4 SLIs.

Here's the harddrive side of the case, at the bottom are 2 SuperMicro SAS drive bays, each holding 5x3.5" drives. Those are in a RAID50. Right above is a drive bay holding 2x2.5" drives in a RAID1 for the OS. Add Raid display, card reader, and USB3 ports. It's finally done!
